enVision has a plethora of resources available for What I Need (WIN) time. Our job as classroom teachers is to decide which resources to use for individual students. The Quick Check items marked in the Independent Practice or the digital version give teachers an opportunity to evaluate students’ understanding of the lesson and prescribe differentiation for WIN time. The digital version of the Quick Check is scored by the program and gives the teacher the option to have differentiated resources automatically assigned based on students’ results.

In lieu of collecting and scoring the quick check items, teachers could use "clipboard cruising" to informally assess students’ understanding while they work on the quick check items. Here’s an example of a "clipboard cruising" document used by a teacher.

In Step 3 Assess and Differentiate, the intervention activity allows the teacher to lead struggling students while the rest of the class works on other activities. Based on how students performed on the quick check items in their independent practice, on the digital version, or by the teacher’s observations during clipboard cruising, the teacher can assign either the Reteach to Build Understanding, Build Mathematical Literacy, or Enrichment page. Another option is the Leveled Assignment Guide at the top of the Additional Practice pages to provide differentiated practice during WIN or as a homework assignment.

A digital WIN alternative is to assign the personalized Savvy Adaptive Practice (Grades 3-5) and Practice Buddy with learning aids for support. Each of the adaptive assignments contains tasks that are connected to the lesson objective and corresponding standards. There is also prerequisite skill support for students when needed. These assignments vary in length because they are individualized.

Teachers can use Practice Buddy when they want all students to experience the same, on-level practice for a lesson. Students will, however, be able to choose the learning aids they need to help them successfully work through the problems. Adaptive Practice is used when teachers want each student to have a unique experience tailored to individual needs. Students will receive a mix of problems, tasks, and instruction in a variety of formats. The more students use the Savvy Adaptive Practice, the better it adapts to their needs. Adaptive Practice helps minimize students’ frustration and maximize success.

In addition to the options listed above, here are other enVision resources to use during WIN time:
· Pick-a-Project
· Problem-Solving Leveled Reading Mat
· STEM Project
· Math Online Games
· Number Tiles Games listed in enVision Google drive
The Topic Planner pages show when these options best fit with the lessons in the topic.
